Tanya Torres Trice, LICSW, is the Interim Director of Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA). She manages the District’s child welfare and family strengthening system in this role. Interim Director Trice brings over 20 years of experience in child welfare and social work to this critical role.
In her previous role as Chief of Staff at CFSA, Interim Director Trice played a key role in overseeing the formulation of the FY25 budget, the most challenging budget to date. Her leadership and expertise in navigating child welfare financing resulted in a finalized CFSA budget. Additionally, she spearheaded a comprehensive agency realignment, streamlining operations and aligning core functions to better support the agency's mission of Keeping DC Families Together.
Prior to her role as Chief of Staff, Interim Director Trice held various leadership positions at CFSA, including Assistant Deputy Director and Administrator for the Office of Youth Empowerment (OYE). Her experience encompasses a broad range of child welfare areas, including placement, resource parent support, recruitment, and ensuring successful transitions for older youth out of foster care.
Interim Director Trice is a strategic and results-focused leader with a proven track record of developing solutions for children and families. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to navigating local administrative procedures, ensuring federal compliance, and standing up large-scale projects that serve the best interests of children and families in the District.
Interim Director Trice holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University.
