A settlement has been proposed in LaShawn A. v. Bowser, Civil Action No. 89-1754 (TFH), in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, that may affect the rights of certain District of Columbia residents who were involved in the District’s child welfare system.

A public hearing called a “fairness hearing” will be held virtually on June 1, 2021, at 10 am before the Honorable Thomas F. Hogan. At the fairness hearing, the judge will consider whether the settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate.
